Prophet of Paraguay

Prophet of Paraguay

APART from being the head of mission at the Paraguayan embassy in Canberra, Esteban Bedoya is now also the "prophet of Paraguay", having written a book about how former pope Benedict would resign. The Apocalypse According to Benedict is a racy, part-phantasmagorical sex-religion South American novel, for which Bedoya has won a PEN American Award. The English version will be launched on April 23. Bedoya agrees it is prophetic, with the possible exception of the bit about the pope running away to a convent with a nun after resigning. Strewth thinks it's a bit early to rule it out.
